Divusi co-sponsored the 8th Asia Open Source Software Symposium (AOSSS) in Nusa Dua, Bali, as a part of its commitment to endorse open source software as an IT solution alternative.
Nusa Dua - Starting from 2003, delegates from Asian countries gather in an event called AOSSS with one mission: to accelerate the utilization of open source software (OSS). Hosted by a committee with members from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), the Ministry of Information and Communication, and the Ministry of Research and Technology, the 8th AOSSS was held in the beautiful Island of Bali from 12 to 15 February 2007.
The main theme of this symposium is "The Utilization of OSS (To Cut the Digital Gap and Presage Its Economic Impacts.)" Two of the objectives are benchmarking the OSS utilization among the 21 economy members and accelerating the growth of OSS industry. Consisted of a series of events, one example is the CodeFest, a collaborative work by open source programmers under a strict deadline: only two days. Held at ITB, CodeFest saw the birth of various OSS, from academical scheduler to 3D graphical engine.
Divusi co-sponsored the event as a part of its commitment and support to the national IT industry. With the growth of many solution alternatives, the IT industry will also grow. As an IT consulting company, Divusi itself has utilized both open source and proprietary softwares.
